Mengulas Kinerja Sony PS Vita

Berbicara mengenai perangkat game portable, nama Sony pasti muncul dalam pikiran kita dengan konsol PlayStation Portable. Persaingan yang kian sengit dengan Nintendo serta perangkat lain seperti smartphone maupun tablet membuat Sony harus melangkah lebih jauh lagi. Maka lahirlah Sony PS Vita yang mengandalkan layar sentuh HD dan game eksklusif yang menarik.

Konsep dan desain
Tentunya sebagai penerus PlayStation Portable (PSP), kami harus melihat perbedaan antara keduanya. Saat dibandingkan, PS Vita memang terasa lebih luas, lebih tebal dan sedikit lebih berat dari PSP-3000. Hal tersebut sebagian besar dipengaruhi oleh peningkatan ukuran layarnya yang kini sebesar 5 inci (sebelumnya yang hanya 4,3 inci).

Namun yang mengherankan, ukuran tombol-tombol PS Vita justru mengecil. Walau tidak terlalu jauh perubahannya, ukuran tersebut akan terasa kurang nyaman untuk pengguna berjari besar. Salah satu perubahan yang kami sukai adalah dua analog stick yang terdapat di samping kiri dan kanan Vita. Stik analog tersebut jauh lebih nyaman dibandingkan dengan analog stik PSP.

Sony juga menyertakan inovasi baru dengan membuat bagian belakang Vita dengan permukaan yang touch sensitive. Dengannya para pengguna dapat menikmati pengalaman bermain yang berbeda dan tidak ditemukan di perangkat gaming lain.

Secara keseluruhan, Sony telah merancang PS Vita dengan sangat baik. Nyaman digenggam, masih tergolong ringan dengan berat 920 gram, serta tidak terlalu besar untuk dibawa bepergian. Namun sayangnya, PS Vita tidak memiliki koneksi video output seperti PSP.

Fitur
Selain besar, Sony menyematkan layar sentuh OLED dengan resolusi 640×960 dengan kerapatan piksel 220ppi yang sangat terang dan tajam. Walaupun tidak bisa menyaingi Retina Display dengan kerapatan piksel 326ppi dan resolusi 960×640 milik iPhone 4S, namun layar PS Vita sanggup mengalahkan sebagian besar pesaingnya.

Tidak hanya tampilannya yang memikat, layar sentuh Vita sangat responsif dan akurat — bahkan bisa mengimbangi layar sentuh iPhone. Dengan banyaknya game yang memanfaatkan layar sentuh, tentunya hal tersebut sangat membantu.

Selain layar sentuh dan permukaan sentuh di belakangnya, Vita juga dilengkapi fitur three-axis accelerometer dan giroskop yang memperkaya pengalaman bermain pengguna.

Seperti PSP, PS Vita dapat digunakan untuk browsing dan menikmati hiburan multimedia. Namun pada Vita, Sony menanamkan beberapa aplikasi sosial media seperti Facebook, Skype — dengan dukungan kamera depan, serta berbagai aplikasi lainnya. Hal ini membuatnya dapat bersaing dengan smartphone maupun tablet yang ada di pasaran.

Penggunaan layar sentuh juga berdampak pada tampilan antar muka menu PS Vita. Hasilnya sangat memuaskan. Semuanya tersaji dengan cukup rapi dan intuitif, apalagi dengan tutorial yang lebih mudah dimengerti dari buku manual. Selain itu tampilannya juga dapat dikustomisasi, seperti misalnya mengganti warna background, memindahkan ikon aplikasi, maupun menghilangkan atau membuat halaman baru.

Kemampuan berpindah dari satu aplikasi ke aplikasi lain juga patut diacungi jempol. Dengan fitur ini, ktia bisa menghentikan game  sementara dengan menekan tombol PlayStation di bagian kiri bawah, lalu pindah ke aplikasi lainnya.

Di bagian atas terdapat dua slot untuk kartu memori khusus serta kartu game PS Vita. Untuk dapat bermain game, kita harus memiliki kartu memori Vita yang harganya cukup mahal. Walau tersedia dalam paket penjualan, namun untuk meningkatkan kapasitasnya kita harus mengeluarkan isi dompet lebih banyak lagi.

Kinerja
Kemampuan grafis yang tinggi adalah senjata terbesar dari PS Vita. Semua tampilannya mulai dari halaman antar muka hingga gamenya terlihat tajam, cerah, dan memukau. Kami betah bermain berlama-lama hanya untuk menikmati tampilannya. Memang tidak sekeren PlayStation 3, namun dapat kami katakan grafisnya melebih PlayStation 2 sekalipun.

PS Vita ditenagai oleh CPU Quad Core ARM Cortex-A9 serta chip grafis PowerVR SGX543MP untuk menjalankan game-game berkualitas HD. Saat mencobanya dengan game Virtua Tennis 4, kami nyaris tidak menemukan adanya lag. Tapi sayangnya, saat terjadi cutscene, framerate menurun lumayan drastis sehingga video tidak bergerak dengan mulus. Tentunya ini tidak bisa menjadi patokan, mengingat setiap game akan berbeda.

Beragam judul game eksklusif dan, tentunya, berkualitas juga menjadi keunggulan Sony PS Vita. Anda tidak akan menemukan game seperti Uncharted: Golden Abyss, atau Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation di konsol game manapun. Namun sayangnya, untuk membeli sebuah game Anda perlu mengeluarkan uang sekitar Rp 300 ribu hingga Rp 500 ribu. Harga tersebut sama dengan game-game PS 3 original.

Saat bermain, kami tidak menggunakan earphone ataupun speaker eksternal untuk menguji kemampuan speaker PS Vita. Hasilnya cukup memuaskan. Suara terdengar keras, tidak “cempreng” dan jelas, walaupun kami tetap menyarankan untuk menggunakan earphone agar lebih nyaman sekaligus menghemat baterainya.

Kesimpulan
Alat game portable memang mengalami tantangan yang besar berkat perkembangan smartphone dan tablet dewasa ini. Makin banyak game-game berkualitas HD di iPad serta game-game gratisan di Android yang menggerus posisi konsol handheld. Namun Sony mengetahui bahwa untuk bertahan hidup, mereka harus mengeluarkan inovasi yang tidak dimiliki smartphone dan tablet — selain alat kendali fisik.

Sony PS Vita menawarkan tidak hanya satu, namun beberapa inovasi sekaligus yang mengungguli perangkat lainnya. Mulai dari kualitas gambar yang hebat, layar sentuh yang ultra-responsif, pilihan kendali yang banyak, hingga game-game eksklusif yang berkualitas tinggi.
Jika ada kekurangan, kami menunjuk ke harga game andalan yang cukup tinggi. Game PS Vita memang berkisar dari Rp 20 ribu sampai Rp 500 ribu.

Tapi perlu diingat, game yang eksklusif biasanya mulai dijual di atas Rp 300 ribu. Untuk game yang harganya cukup murah bisa didapatkan melalui mekanisme download dan kebanyakan tidak sebagus game khas PlayStation. Selain itu, kami juga menyayangkan penggunaan kartu memori khusus yang harganya lebih mahal daripada memory card biasa. Misalnya, untuk kapasitas 16GB, Anda harus membayar sekitar Rp 600 ribu.

Secara keseluruhan, PS Vita tetap merebut hati kami. Dapat dikatakan bahwa PS Vita merupakan salah satu perangkat portable gaming terbaik yang ada di pasaran saat ini dengan game-game HD berkualitas untuk dimainkan di mana pun. Namun Anda harus siap mengeluarkan uang yang tidak sedikit untuknya.
