U.S. Reiterates, in Issue would not be Favoring the South China Sea

JAKARTA-Foreign Minister of the United States (US) confirmed that his country would not be impartial in the South China Sea issue. Clinton hopes the ASEAN meeting in Cambodia in November could defuse the tension upcoming dispute.

"It is important to keep the navigation and free trade in the South China Sea. The U.S. does not take a position in a dispute. countries existing claimants will also have to resolve this problem without the use of violence, "said Clinton in Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of INDONESIA, Monday (3/9/2012).

The former first lady AS it adds that, his country would continue to urge ASEAN to apply clear rules in resolving the dispute. Clinton would bear in mind the importance of the code of conduct and international law.

In addition to discussing the South China Sea, Clinton also give appreciation for Indonesia which used to be the Chairman of ASEAN. At a time when Indonesia became the Chairman, U.s. President Barack Obama made his first visit to East Asia Summit (EAS).

So far, the conflict in the South China Sea into the pergelutan between China and some ASEAN countries namely Philippines. Tension between the two countries was quite experienced an escalation.(Exspost News)
